KING KASHUE

KK

Record of Lodoss War · Supporting / Mercenary King of Flaim

The king of Flaim is everything Parn wants a heroic swordsman to look like when they first meet: confident, skilled, charismatic and completely at ease in a room full of nobles and warriors. Kashue earned his throne rather than inheriting it, rising from a wandering mercenary to unite the desert kingdom of Flaim. That background keeps him practical even when the War of Heroes becomes wrapped in legend and prophecy. He recognizes Parn's potential without pretending the young fighter is ready for every battle, and later takes command against threats ranging from Marmo to the dragon Shooting Star. Kashue is one of the OVA's clearest examples of leadership built through experience instead of destiny.

Shooting Star

SPOILER! Open →
Shooting Star is the fire dragon of Fire Dragon Mountain and one of the few threats in the OVA that makes both sides stop pretending ordinary military strength is enough. Its attacks terrorize Flaim, and even King Kashue treats killing it as a campaign rather than a heroic side quest.

The dragon also guards the chamber containing the Scepter of Domination, which turns Ashram's search for the relic into a collision between Marmo, Flaim and Parn's group. No one defeats Shooting Star alone. The killing blows only become possible after magic, positioning and the three dragon-killing lances create an opening.
Why it matters
Shooting Star makes the Scepter feel earned as a legendary relic. Before anyone can fight over who deserves it, they have to survive the creature guarding it.

Debut: Ep 006 - The Sword of the Dark Emperor

Mycen

SPOILER! Open →
Mycen is the golden dragon that arrives over Marmo when Narse is blocking the allied forces from reaching the castle. The timing matters. Parn's group is already inside, but Kashue's army cannot simply push through a dragon by force. Mycen turns the final battle into dragon against dragon while the human conflicts continue underneath.

Mycen eventually defeats Narse, and the pressure on the battlefield changes with it. The endless supernatural resistance surrounding Marmo begins to collapse as the ritual below is broken.
Why it matters
The OVA's finale is deliberately bigger than Parn's sword fight. Saving Deedlit matters, but so does an entire battlefield that Parn cannot personally control. Mycen is part of that larger scale.

Debut: Ep 012 - Final Battle! Marmo - The Dark Island

The Scepter of Domination

SPOILER! Open →
The Scepter of Domination is the relic Ashram believes can finish Beld's dream of uniting Lodoss. Wagnard describes it in the simplest possible political terms: Beld's sword can rule Marmo, but the Scepter can rule the island.

That promise is why Ashram enters Fire Dragon Mountain despite Shooting Star, and why the relic becomes more dangerous after Wagnard steals it. Its value is not limited to commanding armies. In Wagnard's hands it becomes a source of power for the ritual surrounding Kardis.
What changed
The Scepter begins as an answer to the question 'who will rule Lodoss?' and ends as proof that some forms of power are more dangerous than the political dream that sent people looking for them.

Debut: Ep 009 - The Scepter of Domination

Narse

SPOILER! Open →
Narse is the dark dragon connected to Marmo and the power stirring beneath the island. The OVA begins hinting at the dragon long before the final battle, with Wagnard sensing its awakening while his own magic flares.

When the resurrection of Kardis reaches its final stage, Narse rises over Marmo and turns the island itself into part of the ritual's defense. The dragon blocks Kashue's forces and supports the stream of undead creatures attacking them below.
How you can tell
Shooting Star is a physical disaster that guards a relic. Narse is tied directly to Marmo's supernatural endgame. Its appearance tells you Wagnard's ritual is no longer confined to a chamber underground.

Debut: Ep 004 - The Grey Witch

The Three Dragon-Killing Lances

SPOILER! Open →
The party learns that Shooting Star cannot be treated like an oversized monster. The plan at Fire Dragon Mountain depends on three sacred lances said to be capable of killing the dragon. Orson lands the first crucial strike, and Kashue and Parn use the remaining weapons once Deedlit's magic and the collapsing battlefield create their chance.

The sequence is one of the clearest examples of Lodoss refusing to let a single hero solve a legendary threat. Kashue has experience, Parn has nerve, Deedlit has magic, Orson provides the first opening, and even Ashram's presence changes how Shooting Star moves.
Why it worked
The dragon is defeated by a chain of contributions. Remove any one of them and the 'legendary weapon' is just a spear nobody gets close enough to use.

Debut: Ep 010 - The Demon Dragon of Fire Dragon Mountain
