A dog-like beast-man who becomes Dilandau's last real subordinate after the original Dragonslayers are killed, Jajuka stands out because his loyalty is protective rather than frightened. He knew Celena Schezar when Zaibach first took her, cared for the terrified child and remained one of the few figures she trusted during the experiments that eventually created Dilandau. That history explains why Jajuka tolerates behavior that would drive almost anyone else away. He is responding to the vulnerable person buried inside the commander, not merely the violent personality on the surface. When Dilandau begins destabilizing late in the war, Jajuka stays beside him and ultimately dies protecting him. His final act helps Celena re-emerge, making his loyalty one of the few genuinely selfless relationships inside Zaibach.

Van is pulled toward killing Dilandau while Allen tries to protect the sister hidden inside him.
The Breakdown
Hitomi reaches Van before the killing blow and changes the choice he is about to make. Jajuka's death allows Celena to return. Van then follows Hitomi rather than the battle, reaches Dornkirk's machinery and destroys it. The decisive act is restraint before force. Escaflowne still swings the weapon that breaks the system, but only after Van stops letting the system decide what he wants.

The late-series reveal shows that Zaibach's experiments transformed Allen's kidnapped younger sister, Celena Schezar, into the identity the audience has known as Dilandau. Jajuka knew Celena during the years of experimentation and remains loyal because he remembers the frightened child underneath the commander Zaibach created.
