Xia Yu Lan is one of the twin sisters trained under Gauron and used as assassins during the crisis surrounding Amalgam. She is sent to Tokyo after Sosuke has been removed from Kaname's protection, turning what looked like a quiet surveillance assignment into a direct attempt on Kaname's life. Yu Lan is fast, disciplined and frighteningly willing to kill at close range, but Kaname's refusal to panic lets the supposedly protected civilian turn the pursuit against her. Wraith is wounded, Kaname escapes and Yu Lan is eventually confronted by Leonard Testarossa's Alastor machines. Her death makes clear that the sisters are not simply loyal Amalgam operatives. They are following the legacy of their own teacher and have become expendable to the organization around them.
