NOBORU YOSHIKAWA
NY
A quiet, fragile, and deeply isolated student in Class 3-4 who spends his nights escaping reality through hardcore video games. Yoshikawa is the victim of severe, agonizing psychological and physical bullying at the hands of a clique of popular girls in his class. Driven to the absolute brink of suicide, he is saved in dramatic fashion when Onizuka catches him mid-air off the school roof. By hanging out in his room, playing co-op fighter games, and aggressively trashing the houses of his bullies, Onizuka restores his will to live, turning Yoshikawa into a fiercely loyal ally.

Relentless bullying drives Noboru Yoshikawa to jump from the Holy Forest roof. Onizuka does not debate, negotiate or wait for another adult to act. He goes after him.
The Breakdown
Onizuka catches Yoshikawa during the fall and turns what should have been a fatal moment into the first clear proof that he will risk himself before allowing a student to be discarded. Saving Yoshikawa is the moment Class 3-4's campaign against its new teacher collides with Onizuka's actual reason for staying.

Isolation · Suicide Attempts · PTA Protection · Consequences Open →Noboru Yoshikawa is the clearest victim of Class 3-4's cruelty, with Anko Uehara and her friends turning humiliation and physical abuse into routine entertainment. His first suicide attempt in Episode 3 forces Onizuka to understand that the class war is not only aimed at teachers.
Episodes 5 and 6 expose the larger problem. Anko's mother's PTA power gives the bullies institutional cover until Yoshikawa, Kikuchi and Onizuka force the adults to see what has been happening in front of them.
