TROWA BARTON SPOILER!
TB
Trowa is the quietest of the Gundam pilots and the one most comfortable disappearing into whatever role the mission requires. His public cover is as an acrobat and clown in a traveling circus, where Catherine Bloom becomes one of the few people willing to treat him like a human being instead of a weapon. In combat he pilots Gundam Heavyarms, a machine loaded with enough missiles and ammunition to make his restrained personality almost funny by comparison. Even the name Trowa Barton is part of the mystery around him. He took it after the original Operation Meteor pilot was killed and entered the mission with almost no personal history he could call his own. Later memory loss pushes that question even further: if the mission and the name disappear, what is left of Trowa himself?

Trowa's apparent death and later memory loss matter because Gundam Wing does not treat his absence as a mere temporary benching of a pilot. He survives, but the personality and trust network that made him Trowa are disrupted.
What changed
His recovery becomes part of how the series handles human cost. A pilot can survive the explosion and still lose something fundamental before he is truly back.
