Asuma Sarutobi is the jonin leader of Team 10 and the son of the Third Hokage, though he spent years building an identity outside his father's shadow. Relaxed, thoughtful and almost always holding a cigarette, Asuma understands how to guide Shikamaru, Ino and Choji without demanding that they become copies of him. His chakra blades let him extend Wind Style along their edges for close-range combat, while his earlier service with the Twelve Guardian Ninja gives him experience far beyond ordinary squad work. Asuma is killed after Hidan catches him in the Jashin ritual, but his final words to Team 10 become more important than the fight itself. His death forces his students to carry his lessons without him.

The Breakdown
Choji unlocked Butterfly Chakra Mode without taking the ancestral Red Pepper Pill, manifesting massive chakra wings. He delivered a colossal Gekiken punch to pin Asuma against a cliff face, allowing the sealing team to secure Asuma.
