Chiyo is a retired elder of the Hidden Sand, a legendary puppet master and Sasori's grandmother. She enters the Kazekage rescue carrying decades of bitterness toward the Leaf, especially over the death of her son and daughter-in-law, but the mission forces her to work directly with Sakura. Together they fight Sasori in one of Shippuden's first major battles, combining Chiyo's puppet control with Sakura's strength and antidotes. Chiyo eventually uses the mother and father puppets she built for Sasori to land the final blow he chooses not to avoid. After Gaara is found dead from the extraction of Shukaku, Chiyo gives her own life to revive him. She dies believing the younger generation may do better with the world than hers did.

The Breakdown
Sakura deployed a custom antidote to survive Sasori's toxic gas. Sasori ultimately allowed his parents' puppet bodies to pierce his core, leaving behind vital intel regarding Orochimaru's spy network.
